Basil and I are full time travel professionals, we offer our Chicago properties here but we also run a custom travel planning agency, RealGreece Travel, so we know what quite a bit about hospitality.
As mixed culture couple (Basil, born and bred in Athens, Carole, born & bred in Chicago) we know Chicago, and we also understand the quirks in Greece and know how to help our guests get the most out of their time in Chicago and their time in Greece.
For those who choose our Magic Factory Lofts by Chicago Vacation Rentals, you are staying in an intentional holiday home. You won’t find anyone’s clothes in the drawers but you will find lots of things provided with travelers in mind (some of which are secrets we choose not to share here since that’s what makes us special 🙂

My family had a wonderful four night stay at Carole and Basil’s condo. We could not have asked for a nicer place. They treated us like family. It was very large and very clean. We had 7 adults and 4 children and had plenty of room for all. A Truly Magical Stay at Magic Factory Lofts! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My recent stay at Magic Factory Lofts in Chicago was nothing short of fantastic! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the spaciousness and thoughtful design of the lofts. We stayed in 2E and 2W so our group of 17 had ample room to spread out and relax, and the multiple bedrooms and bathrooms provided everyone with the privacy they needed. The washer and dryer in each unit was a big plus for us. The fully stocked chef's kitchen was a dream. We enjoyed the spaciousness of the kitchen and the large dining table easily accommodated our entire group. We used the large table to plan our days and share stories each night. It truly felt like a home away from home. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and responsive, ensuring we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Their communication was excellent from booking to check-out. The location is also a major plus. Situated on the near north side, bordering Lincoln Park, Old Town, and River North, we had easy access to so many of Chicago's amazing attractions. Getting to the Magnificent Mile, Wrigleyville, and other key areas was a breeze with readily available public transportation and ride-sharing options. While the lofts offer a peaceful retreat, the vibrant energy of the city is just minutes away. And if we needed anything we walked to the nearby Whole Foods or Target. The condo is very clean, spacious, and well-equipped. It is close to shopping, restaurants, entertainment, and the red line. Carole and Basil are fantastic hosts! We recently stayed at the condo for our fourth consecutive year. This is the best apartment we have rented in Chicago! We all absolutely love it. Four bedrooms, with comfortable, individual beds, for nine women with four bathrooms is amazing! They provide plenty of extra blankets to accommodate the varied preferred sleeping temperatures. A huge, well stocked kitchen is wonderful and easy to use. Plenty of dishes, pots and pans, serving needs. There is even a KitchenAide mixer for when we cook in. The large dining room table seats us all comfortably for eating and games. The connected family room has three large couches. It seats us very comfortably for morning coffee and evening movie watching. The location is wonderful. We have walked to and from the theater and major shopping districts with no problems. We also enjoy the neighborhood shops, grocery stores, movie theater, and restaurants. We love staying here so much, that we find we prefer to be here together enjoying the space, instead of being out and about. An elevator makes transporting suitcases and packages simple. The owners are so kind and live in the building for answering questions. Basil even got our car unstuck for us after a snowfall this year. We could not ask for nicer accommodations. Basil and Carol are so wonderful to work with. We will be back again next year, and hopefully for many years to come. Basil and Carole have a Christmas tree for us every year. The rooms are comfortable, each with their own bathroom. The kitchen is spacious with lots of room for games and the living area is perfect for watching Christmas movies. We love the location and especially the kindness of Basil and Carole. Update Dec. 2024 - We had another wonderful weekend at the Magic Factory loft in Chicago. The location is ideal, we can walk or uber anywhere we want to go. Basil and Carole kindly put up a Christmas tree for us as we do a girls gift exchange each year. One day was very cold, so we decided to just stay in and watch Christmas movies. It is very comfortable for 9 of us - beds for everyone, plenty of room around the dining room table or watching TV and the kitchen is well stocked. They are extremely friendly and helpful, we want for nothing! Update - in Feb. 2024 I spent a night with my family at the condo. It is so comfortable for a large group, 4 bedroom, 4 bath and enough beds for us all. My family loved the comfort, the location and the receptiveness of the hosts - Basil, Carole and Adriane. This is our new location in Chicago! I've been going to Chicago in December with girl friends for over 20 years. We sold our condo and feared we would not find anything as comfortable - but this is it! 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 9 beds, spacious kitchen and living room area, enough room for 9 at the table and on the couches, this is a great spot! The location is wonderful with easy access to downtown, North Ave and the northern neighborhoods. The owners live in the building so you know the building is cared for.
